The BNB funding rate right now on five venuesWhat BNB funding has cost in money: 30 days, 90 days, 12 monthsMonth by month: when BNB longs paid most and when they got paidHow to check BNB funding before you open the tradeThe BNB funding rate right now on five venues
Funding is a payment that passes between the two sides of a perpetual contract: when the rate is positive, people holding longs pay people holding shorts, and when it is negative the payment goes the other way. The exchange keeps nothing from it. If you want the full mechanism, how funding is charged covers it in one page; here we only care what BNB costs.
Most of these venues charge BNB funding every 8 hours, Hyperliquid every hour — but the interval can change, so look at the countdown on the contract page (the live table shows the interval each venue is on right now). Because Hyperliquid's number is an hourly rate, to compare it with an 8-hour rate, multiply the hourly figure by 8, not by 24. That one habit stops a lot of panic; comparing 1-hour and 8-hour funding walks through it with examples.
| Where | Paid | Rate now | A 1,000 USDT long: 30 days | 90 days | 12 months | Longs paid (90 days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Binance Futures | every 8 h | 0.0000% | pays 1.59 USDT | pays 9.53 USDT | pays 22.66 USDT | in 41% of settlements |
| Binance Wallet (Aster book) | every 8 h | 0.0000% | pays 1.26 USDT | pays 7.69 USDT | pays 24.72 USDT | in 35% of settlements |
| Bybit | every 8 h | -0.0036% | receives 0.06 USDT | pays 8.59 USDT | pays 24.27 USDT | in 65% of settlements |
| OKX | every 8 h | -0.0123% | pays 4.53 USDT | pays 16.26 USDT | — | in 82% of settlements |
| Hyperliquid | every hour | +0.0006% | pays 5.96 USDT | pays 23.81 USDT | pays 58.94 USDT | in 79% of settlements |
Rate now is what the venue shows for the next settlement. The totals are what a 1,000 USDT long would have paid holding the whole time (price changes aside); a short would have received the same. "Longs paid" is the share of settlements over 90 days when the rate was above zero. OKX only publishes 3 months of history.

Read the table as a cost per day of holding, not as a signal about price. A rate that looks tiny on screen — a few thousandths of a percent — is charged on the whole position size at every payment, several times a day on most of these venues, and that is where the yearly number below comes from. On Binance a single BNB settlement cannot go past 0.375% in either direction, which keeps one payment from being enormous but does nothing to stop a high rate lasting for days.
What BNB funding has cost in money: 30 days, 90 days, 12 months
Here is the same question answered in USDT. Each figure assumes one long position worth 1,000 USDT, held open for the whole period ending 2026-10-24, with funding charged at every payment. These totals count funding only — the price of BNB moving up or down is a separate result on top.
| Venue | 30 days | 90 days | 12 months |
|---|---|---|---|
| Binance Futures (BNBUSDT) | paid 1.59 | paid 9.53 | paid 22.66 |
| Binance Wallet Perpetuals (BNBUSDT) | paid 1.26 | paid 7.69 | paid 24.72 |
| Bybit (BNBUSDT) | received 0.06 | paid 8.59 | paid 24.27 |
| OKX (BNB-USDT-SWAP) | paid 4.53 | paid 16.26 | not enough history to total a year |
| Hyperliquid (BNB) | paid 5.96 | paid 23.81 | paid 58.94 |
The OKX figures only go back three months, so there is nothing to compare over a year. For the other four venues you can read the last column straight across and see how far apart the same trade ended up.
Now scale it to the example we use across the site: 500 USDT of your own money at 5x leverage, which is a position of 2,500 USDT. Funding is charged on the position, not on your margin, so multiply the table by 2.5. Ninety days on Binance Futures becomes about 24 USDT, on Hyperliquid about 60 USDT — on a 500 USDT account that is the difference between a small cost and a noticeable one. It is also a good reason to think about how much leverage you actually need before you size the trade.

Month by month: when BNB longs paid most and when they got paid
The yearly totals hide the swings. On Binance Futures a BNB long actually received money more often than it paid over the last 90 days — about six payments out of ten went in its favour. The total still came out negative, because the few times longs paid, they paid far more than they had collected. On OKX and Hyperliquid it ran the other way: longs were on the paying side at most payments.

What a 1,000 USDT long paid in each month (minus means it received). The current month is not over yet. OKX is left out: its API keeps only 3 months of history.
Updated 24 Oct 2026, 10:56 UTC from the exchanges’ public APIs.
July 2026 was the heaviest month for BNB longs on Binance Futures (1,000 USDT paid 5.33 USDT) and in the Binance Wallet tab (6.02 USDT); on Bybit and Hyperliquid the peak came a month later, in August 2026 (4.36 USDT and 9.63 USDT). October 2025 ran the other way everywhere with history: a 1,000 USDT long received 1.87 USDT on Binance Futures, 1.26 USDT on Bybit, 0.59 USDT in the Binance Wallet tab and 0.56 USDT on Hyperliquid. Cheapest today does not mean cheapest next month — the ranking in this table has flipped more than once, so check the live rate rather than trusting a past winner.
How to check BNB funding before you open the trade
On Binance Futures the current rate and a countdown to the next payment sit right above the chart on the BNBUSDT page, and the full history is under Data, in the futures data section (real-time funding rate and funding rate history). The simplest way to see it for yourself is to open a Binance Futures account — the app will tell you during sign-up whether futures are available where you live — pull up BNBUSDT and watch the countdown tick down before you place anything. Then drop the rate into the funding calculator with your own position size to turn the percentage into USDT.
Find the rate and the countdown
On the BNBUSDT contract page, look above the chart: you will see the current funding rate and the time left until the next payment.
Turn it into money
Take the value of your position in USDT and multiply it by the rate. On a 2,500 USDT position a rate of 0.01% is 0.25 USDT each time funding is charged — about 0.75 USDT a day when there are three payments.
Decide whether holding is worth it
If you plan to hold BNB for weeks, add up the daily cost for your horizon and compare it with the move you expect. For a trade that lasts an hour, funding is usually a rounding error.
Give yourself a reminder
Some exchange apps can alert you about funding; the options differ by app and change over time, so look in the settings of the one you use. A simple phone reminder ten minutes before the next payment does the same job.
You only pay if you are holding at the moment funding is charged. Close before the countdown reaches zero and you neither pay nor receive. And if your available futures balance is short when the payment lands, the fee comes out of your position margin — which moves your liquidation price closer.
One more quirk worth knowing: the Binance Wallet Perpetuals tab runs on the Aster order book, so its BNB funding is Aster funding, which is why its numbers differ from Binance Futures even though both carry the Binance name. Aster also sets the baseline interest part of the formula to zero for BNBUSDT, while on Binance that part is 0.01% per 8 hours. If you want the longer study of how funding adds up across coins and venues, the 12-month funding history with a calculator covers BTC, ETH and SOL, and the BTC funding page answers the same question for bitcoin.
What is the BNB funding rate today?
It is reset every time funding is charged, so any fixed number here would be stale within hours. The live table above shows the current BNB rate on Binance Futures, Bybit, OKX, Hyperliquid and the Binance Wallet Perpetuals tab, and you can also see it above the chart on the BNBUSDT page in the exchange app.
How often is BNB funding charged on Binance?
Every 8 hours by default, at 00:00, 08:00 and 16:00 UTC. Some contracts settle every 4 hours instead, and if the rate reaches its cap the interval can become 1 hour. Trust the countdown on the contract page rather than the habit of 8 hours.
Which exchange has been cheapest for holding a BNB long?
Of the venues with a full year of history, Binance Futures came out cheapest and Hyperliquid dearest, with Bybit and the Binance Wallet tab close to each other in between. The table above has the exact USDT amounts for 30 days, 90 days and 12 months. Treat it as history, not a forecast — the order has changed more than once.
Do I pay funding if I close my BNB trade quickly?
No. Only a position that is open at the moment funding is charged pays or receives. A trade opened and closed between two payments pays no funding at all, just the trading fees.
Does a negative BNB funding rate mean I earn money on a long?
You receive the payment, yes, and the month-by-month table above shows several months where BNB longs collected rather than paid. It is a few dollars a month on a 1,000 USDT position, not a strategy: the price of BNB moving against you can wipe out months of funding income in a day.
Why does the Binance Wallet tab show a different BNB rate than Binance Futures?
The Perpetuals tab in the wallet is executed by Binance's partner Aster, on its own order book, so it calculates its own funding rate for BNB. The two numbers follow a similar market but will rarely match exactly.
